Dumfries and Galloway Council provide equipment to Community Groups including Community Councils, to assist in dealing with winter weather issues.
In order to qualify for the scheme, we require to have five named individuals (from five different properties within the area). If the request is for a grit bin, then in addition to five named individuals, we stipulate that it cannot be sited on a road that the Council currently treat as part of its primary routes, and that the proposed location cannot be within 250m of an existing grit bin.
It is up to each group to manage and maintain any and all equipment issued
