NSI Community Shop and volunteering

Our NSI Community shop is located on Dashwood Square. Housed in what used to be the old tourist information centre it is open six days a week, Monday – Saturday 10-4. Solely run by 15 volunteers, with trustee, Linda Woodfield at the helm. Inside is a treasure trove of second hand items, items once loved and no longer wanted or used. Ideal for upcycling projects, for the home or for your wardrobe.

Some clothing that is donated has never been worn and still has tags on, vintage items can also sometimes be found. Books, crafting materials, electrical items and household goods. Items which can still be used and have life left in them. So whether you have a new home, a new addition to the family or just looking for some new wardrobe items, you will always find a bargain.

20% of our profits from the sale of items are distributed back into the community through our Community Shop Awards, held annually. This year we gave out cheques for nearly £6000 to local community groups and organisations looking for funding to carry on the great work they do. The rest of the profits stay in the community, supporting the numerous projects NSI are currently involved with. None of this would be possible without out volunteers who we are always grateful to and for. In fact, a recent in house survey said 100% of them would recommend volunteering with NSI! Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer can fill in an application form available from the shop.

So if you are in town, shopping, having a browse, pop in and see what you can find!
