Newton Stewart Initiative

The Green Fayre is back again!

The annual Green Fayre, hosted by the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere (GSAB) Partnership and the Newton Stewart Initiative (NSI), has been announced for Saturday 9th May 2026. Now in its 4th year, the GSAB Partnership’s flagship event aims to promote sustainability and to spotlight local projects in conservation and climate action.
The Green Fayre also acts as a showcase of volunteer opportunities, with organisations including Scotland’s Garden Scheme, MAC-CAN and Bee Positive taking part. Stalls will be setting up at Vibe 75, a community hub on Victoria Street managed by the Newton Stewart Initiative. Among the attractions will be seed, plant, produce and clothes swaps, nature art activities, and a pop-up café. The D&G Climate Hub, which the GSAB Partnership hosts through Scottish Government’s Net Zero Scotland funding, will be there to share the latest news from their work across Dumfries & Galloway and opportunities for community groups to access climate action support.
“The Green Fayre is without doubt a highlight of our events calendar. It’s a great way to platform community-led action groups in Wigtownshire and further afield, and for local people to discover how to get involved in projects that speak to their own passions and interests. Each year we have a wonderful variety of demonstrations and information stands, and it’s a social occasion too, a chance to make new connections while having a lot of fun. Vibe75 is a fantastic space and we look forwarding to welcoming an enthusiastic crowd again in 2026.” (Faith Hillier, Community Officer, GSAB)
The Green Fayre will take place at Vibe 75, Victoria Street, Newton Stewart from 10am – 2pm on Saturday 9th May. Entry is free and all ages are welcome, with attendees warmly invited to bring along seeds, plants, produce and/or clothes for the swap stands.
