Job Role: Business Manager- Newton Stewart Initiative

Location: The Old Town Hall, Newton Stewart, DG8 6NL

Salary: Gross £40,000 – £42,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week (occasional evenings/weekends required)

Contract: 12-month fixed term (with a view to extend)

Reporting to: Board of Trustees

What You Will Do (Key Responsibilities)

Lead Operations: Manage the daily administration of the NSI office, ensuring efficient business practices, procedures, and robust record-keeping.

Empower People: Supervise, mentor, and evaluate our dedicated team of part-time admin staff, project development workers, ancillary staff, and volunteers.

Drive Strategy: Develop and implement business plans, goals, and marketing strategies to ensure long-term sustainability and community awareness.

Coordinate Projects: Partner with project development workers to oversee events, activities, and the successful delivery of NSI’s key initiatives.

Build Relationships: Foster strong working links with local councils, businesses, third-sector partners, and the wider community.

Financial & KPI Reporting: Monitor key performance indicators, liaise with NSI’s accountant, and present monthly progress and financial updates to the Board of Trustees.

What We Are Looking For

Essential Criteria: 3+ years of proven management or administrative experience. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field.

Strong leadership skills with a track record of team building, mentoring, and decisive action. Excellent communication skills, including top-tier interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation abilities.

Tech & Data Savvy: Proficiency in data analysis software, IT systems, and financial management tools.

Commercial Mindset: Demonstrated experience in developing new business opportunities.

Desirable Extras: Experience in facility management or funding application management. Social media and website marketing skills. Experience recruiting and training both paid staff and volunteers. A deep understanding of rural communities and their issues in South West Scotland.
